Newborn Height and Weight
At 4 to 7 months old, babies continue to gain weight at a rate of 0.45 to 0.56 kilograms per month (reaching about 2.5 times their birth weight by around 8 months old). Their bones also develop rapidly during this time. As a result, their height increases by approximately 5 centimeters, and head circumference increases by about 2.5 centimeters. The specific height and weight of the baby are not as important as their rate of growth.
It's important to measure regularly and plot the values on a growth chart to ensure they are maintaining their growth trajectory. If you notice their measurements starting to shift to another growth curve or if their height or weight gain is unusually slow, it's important to discuss this with a pediatrician.
